The centre of Aylesbury came alive with the sound of great music this weekend – to celebrate the birthday of an independent shop.
Rocky and Kook turned one on Saturday, and to celebrate that, and launch their new menswear department, owners Kay and Ruby Lewis treated Aylesbury folks to a day-long musical spectacular.
Local bands including Callow Saints, White Tips and Sidewalk Express took to the stage to wow shoppers, as well as a headline appearance from David Live – who is known as one of the best tribute acts in the business. And the headline act couldn’t have been more poigniant, David Bowie chose Aylesbury to showcase his Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust albums, and was heavily involved in encouraging acts such as Blondie, Talking Heads, The Ramones and Iggy Pop to play here.
