Ownership of Princes Risborough gypsy site unclear

Council planning officers will not decide on an application for a gypsy site near Princes Risborough, because ownership of the land cannot be verified.

The retrospective application at Hemley Hill for nine gypsy pitches has received around 600 letters of objection.

The plan was due to go before Wycombe District Council's development control committee, but officers say the certificate of ownership of the land appears to be incorrect and no evidence has been provided to show that the applicant, Patrick Hanrahan, actually owns the site.

"The legal advice is that the planning application is therefore deemed to be invalid and any decision could be struck down in the Court if the Council proceeded to determine the application," a council statement added.

However, the officers' report does look at the planning merits of the application and says that if it had gone to committee, the recommendation would have been to refuse it.
