Nothing but admiration for NHS staff

THAT'S the opinion of today's correspondent.

I write to express nothing but admiration and gratitude to the NHS staff at Whitchurch Surgery and Stoke Mandeville Hospital, for the care and attention I received recently when I had a stroke.

In the space of 6 hours in the A & E department I was given all the necessary tests, including CT scan and X-rays; referrals were made for physiotherapy and the neurologist; medication was prescribed and given; letters followed within 2 days confirming appointments, plus a home visit from the stroke nurse. Thanks to all this prompt action, I am making a very good recovery.

It is time more of us publicly acknowledged the high quality of service and care the vast majority of us receive, instead of moaning about the small percentage of mistakes that do occur when staff are constantly overworked and under pressure.

Yours faithfully,

Peggy Sidebotham (Mrs.)
