1947: Still floody hell 67 years on

Flooding in Aylesbury, 1947

Flooding in Aylesbury, 1947

Nearly 67 years may have passed since these scenes in Aylesbury in 1947, but it seems we still have the same drainage issues after the recent downpours saw a repeat in the Vale this last week.

Many people have been asking themselves ‘is this the worst it has ever been’ after more downpours caused severe flooding in the Vale. Well judge for yourself with this picture of a double decker bus ambling through flood water.

The picture was taken in Aylesbury and followed weeks of heavy rain in March 1947 which was interrupted by snowfall. The snow then melted and was followed by more heavy rain which led to severe flooding.
