A new fast food cafe serving kebabs and ice creams has opened opposite Vale Park.

Owner Mohammed Akmal hopes that the ice cream, waffles, milkshakes and cones he is serving alongside the traditional fare at Spicy Bites will be popular with people enjoying the sunshine in the Aylesbury park in the summer.

Mr Akmal, who used to run the Best Kebab and Fish Bar on the same site, said: “I’m very excited about this new venture, I expect it to be a success, it’s in a good location at the bottom of the High Street opposite the park, and the ice cream should be popular with people in the summer.”

Town mayor Tuffail Hussain officially opened the kebab shop and ice cream parlour on Monday, and there was a celebration with family and friends afterwards.

There is a seating area for up to 10 people, a takeaway service and delivery in Aylesbury with a minimum order of £9.

Mr Akmal said: “We have been closed for three months while the refurbishment took place.

“We gutted the place, had a new roof, everything came out and has been replaced. It has a brand new kitchen, everything is new. I would like to thank everyone who helped me with the refurbishment.”

Mr Akmal employs two people, including his brother Akram, and says there is potential to take on one more employee.

Interested applicants should go into the shop and ask for him.

The opening hours are Monday to Thursday noon - 11.30pm, Friday and Saturday noon to 1.30am and Sunday 4-11pm.

After just one day he said: “We are already very busy with lots of customers.”
