New chairman for Bucks County Council
COUNTY councillors in Bucks have chosen a new chairman at their annual meeting this morning.
The position of Vice-Chairman, formerly held by Mr Robinson, now goes to Mr Richard Pushman.
Mr Robinson said: "I am honoured to accept this position and will be proud to be Chairman of the County Council. It is my aim to ensure that I continue the good work carried out by Pauline Wilkinson and to create goodwill with other organisations in and around Buckinghamshire."
Mr Robinson has been a County Councillor since 1979 and has served communities including Great Missenden, Hyde Heath, Penn, Coleshill and Holmer Green. He previously served as Chairman of the Council in 1993 and has served on all the main committees at the County Council. He was a member of the Thames Valley Police Authority for 19 years including serving three years as Chairman. Mr Robinson was awarded the OBE in 1991 for political and public service.
Mr Robinson's great grandfather was Mayor of Bristol, his grandfather was Lord Mayor of Bristol and his father was a Deputy Lieutenant in Gloucestershire. Married to Ann, whose family are also from Bristol; they have three children and nine grandchildren.
