Light pollution is a growing problem in the Vale, according to a district councillor.
David Vick believes there are only a few remaining areas in the Vale which have little or no light pollution and that efforts should be made to protect them.
But the councillor said responsibility also lies with the public to help limit the pollution.
He said: “We want to educate people on the options that are available so they can make the best decisions they can.
“Just make sure that your lights only shine where they are needed, and not into the sky, into people’s homes or into drivers’ eyes.”
The district council intends to review the design of taxpayer-funded lights to ensure they are as modern as possible and then make improvements.
The council would also like to introduce firmer regulations and punishments for offenders.
