Orinoco the womble helped staff and volunteers to clear the grounds of Waddesdon Manor and filled 65 black bags with rubbish in preparation for opening later this month.
Extraordinary items found included an oven, an old loo, a car seat, several traffic cones and small animal skulls.
But it wasn’t all rubbish. Treasures found included a clay pipe dating from the late 19th or early 20th century and a bowl fashioned as a boot. A metal object was also retrieved which is likely to have been part of a farm cart. Chief executive Sarah Weir intends to make the clean-up an annual event.
