Reporter Hayley O’Keeffe asks residents at the council’s Waterside scheme exhibition what they think of the plans?

Michael Hill, Watermead

“I think it’s excellent, especially the plan to do just a small bit at a time.

“They are also doing a great deal to enhance and protect Aylesbury’s heritage.”

Charlotte Flitney, Great Kimble

“I just popped in because I have just handed in my dissertation in town centre management.

“I am very interested to see what is happening in Aylesbury.”

Keith Gomm, Stoke Mandeville

“They should be pulling the tower down, they could move the council staff out and put them in the country buildings. At least they are doing something to regenerate the High Street though.”

Graham Aylett, Old Town

“If it is done well it could be beneficial.

“I want it to be done in proportion, sensitively and well so that we all get a balanced development.

“We need a proper neighbourhood.”

Ian Hopping, Manor Park

“With the High Street dying we need to bring more people in.

“This will help generate new shops and it is good to see them doing something that brings more people to town.”
