Heather Jan Brunt asks people in Friars Square who should be on the tail end of the new one poind coin after Royal Mint said it would be holding a competition to decide the identity.

Darren Howe, Cheddington:

“The World Cup 1966 when England won.

“Or Bobby Moore, who was captain of the team. He is a great British icon and a great footballer.”

Margaret Barnes, Oakley:

“Concorde. I’ve been on it and it’s a fantastic plane and it’s a shame it’s disappeared.

“It was our glory and a great achievement for our country.”

Charlie Docwra, Aylesbury:

“It would have to be someone who’s had quite an impact. I need more time to think about something so important. It should be contemporary and British. Maybe something to do with the NHS.”

Derek Pelling, Winslow:

“Our greatest export is the English language without a doubt. It is used across the world. I have no idea how it could be represented as an image, but it should be recognised.”

Linda Bellgrove, Aylesbury:

“James Bond.

“The silhouette of Daniel Craig holding a gun with the swirling pattern around him, showing him down the circular barrel of the gun.”
