We ask the people of Aylesbury their views on a hospital smoking ban.

Nicola Gray, Aylesbury:

“I think it’s a good idea to ban it around the grounds, hospitals are there to promote health. I don’t see the point in going out for a cigarette whilst being a patient.”

Lyell Guthire, Thame:

“I think it’s a wonderful idea to ban it. As I work in healthcare and quit smoking I would definitely encourage it, and think it would help people think more about their health.”

Josh Frampton, Fairford Leys:

“I don’t support it at all as a smoker. It’s a free country so as long as you’re not inside a building you have the right to smoke, whether it’s around a pub or a hospital.”

Cherry Beall, Elm Farm:

“I don’t think smoking around a hospital is wise. If you’re in hospital you would be ill anyway so it wouldn’t be practical to go out for a cigarette, so I support the ban.”

Sarah Burke, Hartwell Estate:

“I work at a hospital so I know that it would be inpractical. People are stressed so smoking would calm them down, and regardless of the ban people would smoke anyway.”
