Hayley O’Keeffe asks people in Aylesbury town centre what they think of a ‘voluntary ban’ on smoking in Vale parks...

Louis Henry - Fairford Leys
“No that’s moronic, there’s millions of cubic feet of air for non-smokers to breathe. People should be allowed to poison themselves however they choose.”

Sikander Zanir - Quarrendon

“I think people should avoid smoking in the park because kids are around.

“As a smoker myself I would like to see more places ban smoking so I would be forced to quit.”

Peter Young - Stone

“I don’t think it should be banned because if it is out in the open it doesn’t affect anyone else. I gave up smoking seven years ago, and I support the ban on smoking inside public places.”

Aston Rennie - Bierton

“It should not be banned because it’s outside! It is fair enough banning it inside but a park is everyone’s space and you can be far enough away from a non-smoker for it not to matter.”

Tanin Hossain - Luton

“I agree with the idea to ban it.

“Smoking is not good for people’s health and if you do it in a public place you run the risk of harming not just yourself but other people around you.”
