New Aylesbury mayor Tuffail Hussain modelled some flamboyant headgear for size at his official mayor-making ceremony.

Town and district councillor Tuffail, 53, was sworn in at the Aylesbury College event on Friday evening, where former mayor Tom Hunter-Watts handed over the chain of office and shook his hand.

Allison Harrison, town councillor for Oakfield, joined in as she was officially made Tuffail’s deputy.

Mr Hunter-Watts presented a cheque for £2,900 to the Cancer Care and Haematology Fund at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, his chosen charity for 2013-14.

On the same evening, Friars Music Club promoter David Stopps and former Aylesbury United footballer Emmerson Boyce were awarded the rare but well-earned title of Honarary Freeman of the Parish of Aylesbury.
