A takeaway in Aylesbury will be serving up 99p portions of cod and chips after an unusual gift from the Norwegian people to celebrate a key anniversary in their history.

Mccoys in Buckingham Park will be serving the cut-price food on Saturday, May 17 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Norwegian constitution.

The Norwegian Seafood Council has donated a total of 16 tonnes of cod to the 99 chippies across the UK.

Atilla Arslam of Mccoys said: “We are so pleased to be taking part in this annual celebration. Fish and chips are a firm favourite in Aylesbury.

“I know that our customers will enjoy the delicious Norwegian cod and chips on offer - and they will certainly enjoy the prices too!”

Jack-Robert Møller, UK director for the Norwegian Seafood Council added: “Norway has provided UK fish and chips shops with delicious cod from the icy Barents Sea for nearly 70 years now.

“We are so pleased that due to the abundance of sustainable cod in Norway, that we are able to give the gift of this fish to the people of Aylesbury in celebration of our historic Norway Day.”
