Spandau Ballet star Tony Hadley meets representatives of Vale Lottery good causes

The Spandau Ballet lead singer was joined by representatives from more than 15 local causes who have benefited from the lottery, as the council announced that the £10 prize will rise to £25 and the £100 prize will be increased to £250. A £20,000 jackpot will remain the top prize.

Launched in November, the Vale Lottery already is selling 1,675 tickets a week, putting it on track to generate £50,500 for more than 100 good causes who have signed up so far, including animal welfare charities, conservation groups and local sports clubs.

Tony chatted with the guests and was happy to be snapped for ‘selfies’ and group photos during the meeting on Monday, February 29. The singer said: “It’s been lovely to meet so many people from so many great organisations. As a resident of the Vale I’m really thrilled that the Vale Lottery has taken off and is making such a difference to causes on my doorstep - and for those playing, it’s great to know that they could win a bit more too!”

Karen New of the Chilterns Dog Rescue Society said: “It was great to meet Tony Hadley and it’s fantastic that he’s chosen to show his support for the Vale Lottery. We’ve certainly enjoyed being part of the scheme and we’re definitely reaping the benefits, as it’s helped us to raise more than £500 in much-needed funds already. The prize increase is very exciting as well.”
