A green-fingered couple will invite the public into their well-tended garden in aid of charity..
Ruth and Sean Stephenson will open their garden gate on May 31 and allow people to wander their beautiful four-acre plot with woodland, pond, a sweeping lawn and mature trees as part of the biennial Open Gardens scheme from Rennie Grove Hospice Care.
This little piece of paradise at Drywick, 91 Ellesborough Road, Wendover, HP22 6ES, will be open between 2pm and 6pm to raise money for the charity which cares for those with life-limiting illnesses.
Drywick honey and homemade preserves will be on sale, as well as selected plants. Entry is £3 and dogs are welcome on a lead.
This year, more than 50 people have signed up to the scheme, which last year raised more than £30,000 – enough to fund a specialist Hospice at Home nurse for a year.
Rennie Grove community fundraiser Nicola King said: “This year we have more gardens than ever opening to the public and the scheme is running for longer than usual, so you have almost five months to enjoy fantastic floral displays while helping to support hospice at home care in your local community.”
Eight more gardens in Wendover will open their gates to the public on Sunday, June 15 between 2pm and 5pm.
