Sea of poppies to remember war heroes

Thousands of poppies are to be planted in Aylesbury

Councillors approved plans to plant a sea of poppies in Aylesbury town centre to remember heroes of the First World War.

The seeds, which cost £500, will be sown around the Friarage Road underpass, the Tring Road Tesco roundabout, the paved area on the gyratory and the roundabout on the Exchange Street roundabout near to the theatre.

Aylesbury town councillors praised the scheme and voted it through at their meeting last night.

Councillor Mark Willis asked if more locations could be sourced, so that the poppy scheme could have a greater visual impact in the town.
