Complete with a retractable roof on the open air pool and an extended gym after a multi-million pound refurbishment, the new-look Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre was officially unveiled on Tuesday.
The £5.8 million makeover of the Aylesbury facility also includes two new flumes, a new café overlooking Vale Park, a new reception area and extended car parking.
Free family activities are planned for this weekend so people can enjoy the revamped facilities.
The project was completed thanks to funding from Aylesbury Vale District Council, which owns the Park Street centre, and the support of Aylesbury Vale Community Trust.
Councillor David Thompson, cabinet member for leisure, said: “Our investment in leisure facilities reflects our continuing commitment to local people and their communities.
“The top range of facilities and programmes on offer at Aqua Vale are impressive and I am sure the people of Aylesbury Vale will benefit from the new look centre and it will encourage them to keep fit for many years to come.”
Olympic and Paralympic athletes will visit on October 13 and 14 to support the centre, with free activities including swimming, fitness classes and gym trials on offer from 10am to 4pm.
Mr Thompson said he hopes the success of the London 2012 Games will inspire more people to get involved in sport.
