A pub has named its new culinary creation after shamed footballer Luis Suarez – a fiery burger which literally bites back.
The Broad Leys in Wendover Road, Aylesbury, is marking the Uruguayan footballer’s jaw dropping munch on Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini, by launching the spicy namesake which has proved a hit with diners.
The blow out burger is fresh mango salsa, cream cheese stuffed jalapeños on a spiced beef burger served with fiery chilli chutney and hand-cut chips.
Helen Wood, who has run the pub for 12 years, said: “I know we shouldn’t really make light of it but we thought we would have a bit of a laugh.
“With England going out of the World Cup there’s got to be some fun to be had.
“We had the idea when we saw all the jokes on the internet about Suarez, pictures with him wearing a Hannibal Lecter mask and things like that.
“Our customers seem to like it, we sold plenty of them this lunchtime.”
On Wednesday it was revealed that Luis Suarez will face a four month ban for the biting incident.
This means that he will miss the rest of the Brazilian World Cup, where his team have gone through to the last 16 of the competition.
