More than 600 women, and for the first time 25 men, looked pretty in pink as they took part in the Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity (FNHC), fifth Gemstone Midnight Walk.

Organisers expect to raise over £60,000 from the walk which took place during the early hours of Sunday morning.

Walkers had a choice of either a six or 13 mile route for the walk, which started and finished at Aylesbury College.

The evening began with a launch show hosted by Katy Brown from Mix 96, and featured music from The Zefrones and Sophie Ray as well as a performance from Strictly Florence winners Sian McCarthy and Mark Henderson.

FNHC’s Karen Shardlow said: “It’s the first time we’ve had rain in five years but our walkers were fantastic and weren’t going to let anything stop them from setting off and taking on their midnight walk challenge in our silver jubilee year!

“On behalf of the hospice charity I would like to say a very big thank you to our
walkers, marshals and volunteers who played a big part in making it such a great evening.”
