Police have warned known burglars they will be ‘man marked’ as officers look to crack down on the crime.
Area commander Olly Wright said burglary is at a ‘record low’ in Aylesbury Vale, with offences down 10% this year .
However, Mr Wright warned that as the dark nights draw in people need to be aware that it is a time when burglaries tend to increase, although police will be doing everything they can to stop that from happening.
Mr Wright said: “We thankfully have a very small number of local burglars.
“The majority are committed by people from outside the area.
“Those few that we do have living here, I liken it to a football team. We will be doing a bit of man-to-man marking on them. We have a close watch on them.
“If they want us to help them then that’s great. If they choose to keep offending we have got a whole range of tactics that we use to catch people.”
Police are running Operation Arctic to crack down on winter burglaries.
