The start of resurfacing work in Oxford Road, which features more than 50 potholes in the half a mile stretch around Aylesbury College has been delayed for a second time Bucks County Council announced this morning (Monday).
The work will now begin on Wednesday August 20, five days later than originally planned.
The county council said: “Following recent rainfall, delays have been experienced on other sites having a knock on effect to the start of work on the Oxford Road.”
The road will be closed between 7pm and 6am for the work, which will last for a total of six nights, although no work will take place at the weekend.
The council also said a full signed diversion route will be in operation during the works.
Some of the potholes on the stretch from the Gatehouse Road roundabout to the junction with Churchill Avenue are so wide that they stretch over the entire carriageway.
The holes, which have been deteriorating for several months, have been described as ‘dangerous’ and ‘not roadworthy’ by motorists, whose attempts to avoid one hole often result in them bumping down into another.
