A rare upside down rainbow was spotted over Aylesbury on Sunday.
The ‘inverted halo’ was photographed by reader Marie Winfield, whose six-year-old daughter Jessica spotted the unusual site on Mother’s Day at her grandma’s house in Southwald Close.
Marie said: “When my daughter saw it she said it was a smiley face rainbow for Mother’s Day, we feel quite lucky to have seen it because I read that they disappear quite quickly.”
Similar in appearance to rainbows, but different in their formation, upside down rainbows are formed by ice crystals high in the atmosphere.
If you spot something unusual going on in and around Aylesbury then we want to hear from you.
