Their first appearance at Friars in the Maxwell Hall was on June 27, 1981, a few months after they’d had their first UK Top 40 hit Reward which reached number six in the charts.

They followed up with a re-release of Treason (It’s Just A Story).

It reached number 18.

After that, chart success began to fade and eventually the band split up.

Other notable songs before the split include The Greatness anbd Perfection of Love.

Julian Cope, pictured here without his shirt, went on to become a very successful solo artist, and latrtr author

In 1986 he reached the charts with World Shut Your Mouth and had other hits including Trampoline
