A fitness class entitled Medieval Combat for Beginners, which uses nylon practice swords and wooden staves, is coming to Aylesbury next month.
Based on historical European martial arts, it combines core strength exercises with balance work and sword techniques in a circuit training format.
The class is being put on the county council’s adult learning team.
Tutor Gareth Prior coaches several sports and has been studying Historical European Martial Arts for 10 years. He says the course will benefit people of all fitness abilities.
“We have a mix of men and women, some with back injuries and a few in wheelchairs. We can adapt the exercises to suit all abilities so that everyone is able to participate.”
The one-hour class starting on Saturday November 9 from 10-11am at the Grange School in Aylesbury.
The cost for a six-week course is £30. For more information or to enrol, contact Buckinghamshire Adult Learning on 0845 045 4040 or visit www.adultlearningbcc.ac.uk
