Mums running club proving a great success

A women’s running group is going from strength to strength as it approaches one year since its formation.

Mums on the Run is a group of around 15 mothers who run each week on Monday mornings near to Bedgrove Pavilion.

The group has mums of all ages and running abilities, and the emphasis is on jogging for fun.

It was set up in March 2013 by Monika Yarnell, a qualified Run England leader, who lives in Bedgrove.

Monika said: “The women who come all really enjoy the sessions.

“It is a great way for them to improve their fitness levels and at the same time they have the chance to meet up and chat to other mums.

“The hardest part is often getting people to find the initial motivation to come the first time, but when they do, they love it.”

Mums on the Run is also joined on Monday mornings by a ‘Buggy Joy’ group.

This group encourages new mothers to exercise by allowing them to bring babies along in pushchairs, through gentle running, walking and toning exercises.
