Work is underway to demolish the old Aylesbury Vale Academy building in Weedon Road.

The building, formerly known as Quarrendon School closed in July last year ahead of the opening of the new academy at Berryfields in September 2013.

This photo, sent by reader Mandy Burgess shows the demolition work in progress.

Miss Burgess’ daughters Jessica Jones, 13, and Charlotte Jones, 15, both attended the school and are now studying at the academy.

She said: “It feels like the end of an era seeing the building being demolished.

“Both my daughters have happy memories of the time they spent there.”

In a statement Bucks County Council said: “Work started on the demolition programme in late April.

“No decision has been made on the future of the site as a whole, other than that it will remain within educational use.”

Demolition of the building is expected to be completed in mid-July.
