The vice chair of the Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust has been nominated for a prestigious industry award.
David Briercliffe has been shortlisted in the Inspirational Board Member category for the Housing Heroes awards, organised by the Chartered Institute of Housing and Inside Housing magazine.
David was selected thanks to his support for affordable housing in the Vale, particularly in rural areas, and for his advocacy for social housing tenants amid increasing negative stereotyping in the media.
The awards celebrate the ‘unsung heroes’ of housing, and attract more than 200 entries from around the country.
The trust’s chief executive Matthew Applegate sung David’s praises, saying: “David is widely respected for his views on housing related issues, but he is well liked by employees at the trust for his compassion and sensitivity.
“He’s always interested in what is going on, has an excellent understanding of the trust’s purpose and is active on a number of resident groups as well as the board.
“We are privileged at the trust to have an extremely high calibre board and David’s nomination for such a prestigious national award is testament to this. We all wish him the very best of luck for the final result.”
The winner will be revealed at the Chartered Institute of Housing annual conference in Manchester on June 23.
