A couple has been found guilty of benefit fraud after they cheated the system out of more than £14,600.
Gregory Schwier, 56, and Susan Davies, 52, of Lee Road, Aylesbury, were found guilty of failing to notify the authorities when they received £191,363 from the sale of Schwier’s late mother’s house in Meadoway, Hartwell.
Between receiving the money and being caught in less than a two-year period, Schwier had falsely claimed £4,806 and Davies had falsely claimed £9,823.
The pair denied all charges but were found guilty by a jury.
They were made to pay back the money owed to Aylesbury Vale District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions, totalling to £14,630.
The two now await sentencing to be held later this month.
This case was based on information given to the council by a member of the public.
