A free ice skating rink will be set up on the green by Ronnie Barker’s statue in front of Waitrose on Saturday.
The gesture is a festive gift to the community from the store that opened in town earlier this year.
Department manager (retail) Adam Hildreth said: “This is something we wanted to do in Aylesbury, to say ‘Happy Christmas, have a bit of fun and enjoy yourselves’.
“We have such a fantastic location here, a supermarket doesn’t usually have a view like this.”
Waitrose host community events at their stores around the country but this is the first time the supermarket giant has come up with the idea of an ice rink.
In addition there will be a live Christmas band playing festive music, a children’s entertainer and a face painter.
Members of staff in store will also be giving out food and drink tasters.
Mr Hildreth said Waitrose is a community spirited store, and has worked together with the Waterside Theatre to decorate the trees outside their buildings.
He said: “It seemed a shame not to have lights on this side of the road, so we got together and the green lights are for Waitrose, and the red lights are for the theatre.”
The festive fun on Saturday lasts all day from 10am until 8pm.
