An ongoing appeal launched by actor Sir David Jason has so far raised more than £5,000 for the Florence Nightingale Hospice.
The appeal launched last November aims to raise £20,000 to refurbish the Day Hospice.
Sir David, who lives in Ellesborough, penned a personal appeal letter to officially open the campaign, is encouraging hospice supporters to ‘dig deep’ to help fund a ‘makeover’ which will include new furniture, fittings, curtains, flooring and general maintenance.
The Day Hospice sees 40-60 patients from across Aylesbury Vale and surrounding areas each week, many of whom suffer from life-limiting illnesses.
It offers treatment and support to patients and their families.
The hospice’s executive director Sue Jenkins said: “We would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who has kindly donated to our Day Hospice appeal already.
“We are nearly a third of the way to our target which is wonderful news.
“Donations will really make a difference to the lives of our Day Hospice patients, who need specialist care and support on a weekly basis.”
