Plans for a Giraffe restaurant at Tesco Broadfields have been opposed by Aylesbury Town Council.
Tesco, which bought the chain for £46 million in March, wants to build the restaurant in the supermarket car park.
But the council says the proposed development ‘will not comply with aspirations for improvement of the restaurants offer within the town centre’.
It added: “There is already a choice of two restaurants nearby in this out-of-centre location.
“Why not locate in under-used floor space within the store?
“Clear pedestrian routes across the large supermarket car park are needed to ensure safety.”
The council has also objected to plans for a Bet Fred bookies in Market Square.
It believes there are already enough betting shops in the town centre.
Aylesbury Vale District Council will make the final decision on both applications.
