A popular music figure has welcomed the arrival of a new boss at the Waterside Theatre.
David Stopps, promoter of the famous Friars Club in Aylesbury, said general manager Jamie Baskeyfield could mark the beginning of a ‘new chapter’.
He said: “I’m very excited about it, it’s a real step in the right direction.”
Mr Stopps added he was yet to hear from Mr Baskeyfield, who replaced Elizabeth Adlington, but was waiting for the call.
A lack of gigs at the theatre has upset many people since it opened in October 2010.
Aylesbury previously hosted the likes of David Bowie, The Clash and Genesis.
However, Mr Baskeyfield, who has run the Hammersmith Apollo and promoted Stereophonics, said he would look to bring more gigs to the £47 million theatre.
Mr Stopps said: “I think it was designed to be a flexible venue.
“They spent millions on having the flat floor option and I think it’s only been used twice.”
