A charity fund in Jimmy Savile’s name has closed following the sex abuse scandal surrounding the late DJ.
The Jimmy Savile Stoke Mandeville Hospital Trust was expected to change its name following allegations the presenter could have abused more than 200 people.
However, both itself and Leeds-based Jimmy Savile Charitable Trust opted to shut down.
The Hospital Trust was formed in 1981 after Stoke Mandeville invited Savile to set it up. He helped raise more than £40 million for the spinal unit.
It currently has £1.7 million in funds and it is believed this money will now be donated to several other charities.
However, it will be down to each recipient as to whether they want to make any donation public.
