Elderly woman injured by shoplifter trying to steal booze from Tring Road Tesco

An elderly woman’s leg was broken when she was barged to the ground by a fleeing shoplifter at an Aylesbury supermarket.

The thief was trying to steal three bottles of whisky from Tesco in Tring Road when he knocked over several people as he ran out of the store.

The woman, who is in her 80s, was taken to Stoke Mandeville Hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

A second person suffered minor facial injuries but was not taken to hospital.

The incident happened at about 10.50am on Monday.

The offender is white, around 6ft tall, in his early 20s with an Eastern European accent.

He was wearing a black beanie hat, a white top, a dark waist length jacket, light grey trousers, dark grey plimsoll trainers with a white sole and was carrying a black rucksack.
