A design student has come up with a creative new look map for Winslow.

Harry Clarke, 19, has come up with this new-look map based on Harry Beck’s iconic London tube map. Harry, who studies visual arts at Aylesbury College, came up with the idea one afternoon when he was looking for something to do.

He said: “The original London undergound map is something that is iconic. It is a really memorable map and everyone knows it and how it works.

“I thought it would be a bit of fun to make a Winslow version of it.”

Harry attended the Cottesloe School, Wing, and plans to go on to Bath Spa University in September to study graphic design.

He said: “I am interested in designing and branding for various products, logo design. Design is something you can start from nothing and you can get some ideas and you can come up with something new. You have created something.”

Harry points to global brands such as Coca Cola, McDonalds and Nike as some products who have their branding spot on.

He added: “A brand needs to have a good name and it needs to be standing out from the others. The logo needs to stand out from the others and use some really bright colours.”

Harry hopes to works as a graphic designer in London or New York and emulate these instantly recognisable designs.

He concluded: “I was brought up in quite a creative household. Certain things catch my eye, things around us, buildings, logos, adverts - they can all be eye catching. I would like to do something similar but better.”
