Bucks County Council has appointed six new honorary aldermen who will assist the chairman in civic duties.

Former county council chairmen Marion Clayton, Mike Colston, David Polhill and Richard Pushman, plus long-serving members Bruce Allen and Freda Roberts have been appointed to the posts.

The aldermen’s role is to carry out ambassadorial and civic duties in support of the chairman and the county council.

New county council chairman Zahir Mohammed said: “These long serving members have already worked extremely hard in serving Buckinghamshire and I know they’ll be superb ambassadors.

“I’m delighted to welcome them as honorary aldermen.’

The new aldermen will serve for eight years, and join eight further aldermen who were appointed in 2010.
