Kim Bolton and Rebecca Willison are starting the sessions, which will cater for all abilities, at Sir Thomas Fremantle School from Monday.

The club is affiliated to the Harlequin School of Gymnastics in Leighton Buzzard which has a history of producing elite gymnasts.

Elliott Browne won a world tumbling gold in 2014.

And Kim thinks there is a good chance Winslow has some gems she can unearth and help develop.

She said: “We are always on the look out for the next world champion.

“I will be running the club primarily as a source of fun, fitness and entertainment for young people but with the added benefit of being able to have them train at the Harlequin club if they show great promise in any area of gymnastics.”

Kim, a former rhythmic gymnastic and acrobat, will run the sessions with the help of Rebecca, head of girls PE.

And she is looking forward to watching the newcomers develop, not just as gymnasts but as young people.

“It’s the look on their faces when they have learned something new – there’s nothing quite like it,” Kim said.

“Gymnastics makes such a difference and it can help in other areas and other sports. It builds confidence, balance, stamina, self-esteem. It’s great to get into sports.”

The club, run by qualified coaches, will be on Monday afternoons for gymnasts aged five and over, and Wednesday mornings for toddlers.
