A dedicated care team from Sanctuary Supported Living (SSL) in Aylesbury has been chosen as one of six finalists in the south east at a regional awards ceremony.
SSL’s Pennefather Court care team provides residential care for young adults with learning and/or physical disabilities and made the finals of the Great South East Care Awards 2013 for the Care Team Award.
Their ranking saw the team in competition with just five other finalists from the care sector across the region.
Pennefather Court local service manager Wendy Porter said: “I’m immensely proud of my team for getting so far.
“They all put a lot of work into the services they provide at Pennefather Court and putting not just the needs of the residents at the top of their agenda, but their feedback as well.
“Our team has worked hard to demonstrate their work for the shortlisting process and now we know we’ve got what it takes, we can do even better next year.”
Pennefather Court was nominated for the award by a former resident – originally referred to the home after difficulties adapting to other schemes owing to stroke-induced dementia, and nominated the team as a show of gratitude.
Pennefather Court provides 24-hour care, with each resident assigned their own keyworker.
Personalised support plans are agreed to identify specific needs and how the resident would like them to be met, with regular reviews to enable any change in needs and care adjusted then monitored accordingly.
