Arif Rehman, owner of Pitstop car wash in Aylesbury opens up the suggestion box for his 10,000 charity giveaway

Car wash boss Arif Rehman says he is ‘delighted’ by the number of heartwarming suggestions he has received in his quest to give away £10,000.

Mr Rehman, owner of Pitstop hand car wash in Gatehouse Way, Aylesbury, pledged to hand the cash to needy individuals, groups and organisations, appealing to the people of Aylesbury to help him choose where his hard earned money should go.

The generous businessman set up a suggestion box at the car wash just before Christmas and last week with editor of the Bucks Herald Roger Hawes as a witness, Mr Rehman ‘opened the box to reveal scores of hand-written suggestions.

He said: I am delighted by the response. I really didn’t think there would be so many, This is all very positive and the suggestions are at all levels.”

Now Mr Rehman faces the tough job of choosing which charities he wants to support.

He will decide in the coming weeks along with his sponsors, who he says made this all possible, the suggestions he is willing to support and importantly how much each will be awarded.

“I need to take these suggestions away and look a them closely before making any decisions, “ he said.

Last year Mr Rehman gave his money away through the Bucks Community Foundation but this year decided he wanted his support for the community to be more personal.

He said: I am doing this because together we can make that little bit of difference to someone’s life.”

Mr Hawes said: “I think what Arif is doing is great and I look forward to reporting on how his generosity helps the people of Aylesbury.

“He has worked very hard to succeed in business and now he wants to give something back.”
