A record 1,837 cyclists took part in this year’s Tour de Vale, making it the biggest turn out in the fundraiser’s 11-year history.

Bikers tackled either 15, 35 or 55 miles of the Vale in glorious sunshine on Sunday, and familiar face and Tour de Vale legend Janice Worger completed the 35-mile route.

Known locally as ‘Mad Jan’, she set another record for the highest individual fundraising total with a whopping £1,400 for Wheelpower.

Organiser Jo Hall said: “We are delighted that the Tour de Vale has grown into such a major event, and countless supporters return year after to year to play their part in transforming the lives of disabled people.”
