A swarm of bees has caused a stir after flying around a Vale village, before making a new home outside a church.

Reader Heather Stutchbury sent us this picture of the bees sitting outside the Methodist Church in the High Street, Waddesdon.

Heather was volunteering at the Wednesday Club in the village when she noticed the bees.

She said: “I spotted the bees while I was going in and out of the village hall and I saw them fly around for about ten minutes.

“They were circling the church and then I saw them settle on a post by the chapel.

“There was nobody else around at the time and I wasn’t quite sure what to do.

“In the end, we had to call out a beekeeper from Stone who came and got rid of them.

“As I was busy with the Wednesday Club I couldn’t see what he was doing but it was a relief he got rid of them.

“It was not immediately obvious they were bees so if the chapel had been in use and somebody had come outside and disturbed them it could have been quite nasty.”
