Filming of Emergency-Ward 10 in Buckingham Street, Aylesbury, in 1966

Buckingham Street in Aylesbury was used by the makers of Emergency-Ward 10 to film the aftermath of a plane crash.

A life-size plywood model of a jet was brought to a former butcher’s slaughter house which was due for demolition, while one complete side of Ripon Street was filled with a mobile control room and dressing rooms.

The scene, which involved 45 actors including 35 extras, starred Mark Eden, the pilot of the jet, Ian Cullen, Paul Barron and William Wilde, who all scored a hit with the girls in the watching crowd.

It turned out to be a 10 minute sequence on the show.
