More than 150 people attended the Community Iftar (breaking of the fast) at the mosque earlier this month.

Among those in attendance were MP David Lidington, the High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire Milly Soames, the leader of the district council Neil Blake, and various district and town councillors.

Adrian Burns, the Station Commander at RAF Halton and Superintendent Olly Wright both attended and joined in with the fast itself, which meant no eating or drinking from 2.30am to 9.30pm.

Members of various local churches and faith organisations also took part in the event.

Councillor Raj Khan was among those who attended the event, which he described as very community-oriented.

He said: “We brought people of all religions together.

“The mosque is not an exclusive place, it is for all parts of the community.

“We were delighted to be able to reach out to the community and we were very proud to demonstrate that we are all British.”

Eid is a religious holiday celebrated by the Muslim faith which marks the end of Ramadan.

The holiday celebrates the conclusion of the 29 or 30 days of dawn-to-sunset fasting during the entire month of the festival, regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam.
