Abseil challenge from the Red Cross from the heights of county hall

The British Red Cross is looking for people to sign up for a 200ft Almighty Abseil challenge down Aylesbury's County Hall on Sunday, September 25.

Participants will be supported all the way by Team Red Cross with fundraising ideas to help reach their £100 target. On the day, Aylesbury’s Mayor, Cllr Barbara Russel will be there to cheer on participants brave enough to take on the challenge.

Amanda Nicholson, from Buckinghamshire, took part in 2015, and says: “The abseil was hugely exhilarating once the initial step back into the void was done. I wish I’d lingered longer to enjoy the wonderful view and listen to the church bells chiming below.”

As an extra incentive, anyone who raises £175 before the event will receive a free action photo on the day, as a memento of their descent. They will also be in with a chance to win a pair of tickets to Save the Last Dance for Me at the Aylesbury Waterside Theatre.

People taking on the challenge will be raising vital funds for a great cause. The money raised will go towards Red Cross work supporting people in crisis. In Buckinghamshire the Red Cross provides a range of services including providing practical support and comfort to people after an emergency like a house fire or flooding, mobility aids to improve people’s comfort and independence and the charity also trains people in vital first aid skills.

To be part of this abseil in the heart of Aylesbury town centre people can join Team Red Cross and register for £25.
