John Colet students were celebrating today as they received this year’s A-level results, which were some of the best in recent years.

This academic year saw a change to the examination system, as modules were abolished in favour of all exams being taken during the summer period.

Sixty per cent of all grades recorded were A*-C.

John Colet students achieved a 93% pass rate in A2 Level exams.

The top performing students at A2 level included:

> Ryan Brooks (A* in travel and tourism, A grades in history and sociology)

> James Davis (A grades in psychology and sports studies, B in biology)

> Lauren Skinner (A* in film studies, A in communication studies, B in psychology)

The AS level highest achievers included:

> Orie Amadi (A grades in biology, maths, chemistry and C in geography)

> TJ Higgs (A grades in travel and tourism, business studies, geography and B in ICT)

Headteacher Christine McLintock said: “I am delighted with the results this year.

“John Colet students are encouraged to have high expectations of themselves and these results demonstrate that through hard work and commitment fantastic grades can be achieved.

“Pupil progress is our priority and these results support this.

“I am incredibly proud of both the students and staff.”
