A man had to be freed by firefighters when he became trapped in handcuffs after an office prank backfired.

The man walked into Aylesbury fire station just before 4pm yesterday afternoon (Monday) with the handcuffs attached to his left wrist.

He had earlier been handcuffed to a chair as a prank however could not free himself from the handcuffs after losing the key.

A spokesman for Bucks Fire and Rescue service said: “The man was in good spirits, he realised he had placed himself in an unusual situation and he was able to have a laugh about it.”

Crews tried to remove the cuffs using bolt-croppers however when these did not work, they resorted to pedal-cutters, normally used to free people from car crashes.

The man, who has not been named, was not injured in the incident.

The spokesman added: “Our advice is that it might be fun to play around with handcuffs but make sure you always have the keys to hand.”
