Man arrested for murder of Aylesbury Vale man missing since August

A 22-year-old man from London has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with a search for a missing Vale man.

The arrest was made on Friday as police continue to search for a man who has been missing for almost six months.

70-year-old Samuel Alexander, named locally as the arrested man's father was also known as Sami Yacoub El-Kayoubi.

He went missing from Drayton Parslow in August.

Det Ch Insp Joe Kidman, who is leading the investigation, said: "Officers have arrested someone in connection with Mr Alexander's disappearance.

"However, this is one element in a large investigation to find a man about whom we have very serious concerns.

"I would ask anyone who may be able to assist us with the whereabouts of Mr Alexander since August 2009 to come forward."

Police are continuing to search for Mr Alexander and will this afternoon hold a press conference to appeal for help with their investigation.

He moved from Egypt to England many years ago and police said he has receding grey hair, dark eyes and occasionally wears glasses.

He has olive-coloured skin, is of slight build and walks with a stoop, possibly aided by a walking frame.

He usually wears neutral, plain shirts and trousers.

Anyone with information should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
