Wild West day, Roald Dahl Games, food festival... fun-packed events heading for Aylesbury detailed in handy new booklet
MCBH - Launch of the Aylesbury Town Centre Guide 2013 in Market Square, Aylesbury
There is absolutely no need to miss out on having fun in these days of tightened belts and austerity.
A Wild West Extravaganza, live music, artisan village, the Roald Dahl Games and summer speedway are just a small sample of more than 450 incredible free events listed in the new guide published by Aylesbury Town Centre management.
The jewel in the crown is most definitely a brand new event, Aylesbury Music and Food Festival which kicks off with The Searchers playing at Hobble on the Cobbles (see Leisure feature on page 99), continues with a week long daily menu of live music and food activities and culminates with Proms in the Park where families can take a picnic and enjoy an evening of live music.
Town centre manager DianaFawcett said: “This is the largest number of free events we’ve ever had, with several brand new events including the artisan village and Wild West Extravaganza. It’s difficult to pull out the best event, there are so many, but by far the biggest new event is our music and food festival.
It is jam packed. In the past we have had live music in the town centre on summer Sundays, but this is a week-long celebration.
“We are still working on it at the moment, but we hope to showcase independent restaurants and arrange a safari supper event where people can go to different places for starters, main course and pudding.”
Mrs Fawcett said events aimed at children had been moved into the school holidays, with weekend events focusing on a more generic audience with wider appeal
Further information about events is available at the Tourist Information Centre in The King’s Head.
