Whetting the appetite for Thame’s fantastic Food Festival
Steve Love
Tongues are wagging as hundreds of stallholders get ready for record-breaking year.
This Saturday (September 29), is set to be a major landmark in the history of Thame Food Festival.
With the closure of roads in the centre of the town for the first time and a vastly expanded area for the 100 plus stallholders – a festival record – this fifth festival has an amazing line-up of events, exhibitors and celebrity chefs, and is set, yet again, to be a wonderful FREE fun family day out.
Appearing live and performing fantastic mouth-watering demos in the Cookery Theatre will be Beverley Glock of Splat Cooking, Laurie Gear of The Artichoke in Amersham, Adam Simmonds of restaurant Adam Simmonds at Danesfield House, Marlow, and Steve Love and Ian Craddock from headline sponsors McCormick UK (pictured). Festival ambassador and food ‘superstar’ Raymond Blanc, who firmly believes that ‘Britain is now re-connecting with its food culture’, will be on stage at 1pm with fellow ‘Very Hungry Frenchman’ Kush.
‘Dish of the Day’ will be festival patron Lotte Duncan at 1.45pm followed by Marcus Bean and festival regulars Katie and Giancarlo Caldesi.
Master Chocolatier Nigel Rumsey will be the dessert course and don’t miss The Big Cook Off between The Raymond Blanc Cookery School and Harding’s Restaurant at Aylesbury College.
Events include book signings by Raymond Blanc, a Thame Tart competition and demos and book signings at Thame AGA Shop.
There will be a Pop-up Pub by The Thatch and James Figg; ‘Sausage Making’ and a talk on Artisan Ales by Susanna Forbes of DrinkBritain.com in The Stables of The James Figg. Rumsey’s Chocolaterie will run chocolate lollipop making for kids and Thame Concert Band will play in Montesson Square.
The festival starts at 9am and the list of the incredible 100+ stallholders for the festival, many selling hot take-away food, is on the website www.thamefoodfestival.co.uk
